EDINBURG TX – The Edinburg Police Department is accepting applications for its 2026 Teen Police Academy, a hands-on law enforcement program open to teens ages 14 through 17 who reside within the city of Edinburg. The application deadline is June 2, 2026.

The program will be offered in two sessions, both running from 8 a.m. to noon: Session 1, June 8-12, and Session 2, June 15-19.

Participants will receive hands-on experience in a range of law enforcement activities, including crime scene investigation, building searches, Taser demonstrations, active shooter scenarios, drug and gang education, DWI and distracted driving awareness, mock traffic stops, police simulations, and first aid.

The academy is described as aimed at building positive relationships between law enforcement and community youth through interactive, hands-on activities.

Spots are limited and applicants must reside within the City of Edinburg. The program is affiliated with National Night Out 2026.
