Edinburg Council and EDC to hold joint meeting on Monday, May 4

EDINBURG TX – The Edinburg City Council and the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors will hold a special joint meeting Monday, May 4, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Edinburg City Hall, 415 West University Dr.
Among the key topics to be covered are some items with unusual names, normally picked to preserve proprietary business information before its public release, including “Project Choo Choo,” among others with similarly cute names.
Public comments will be accepted, with speakers limited to three minutes. The council will not respond to public comments. Residents wishing to speak must complete a Public Comments Form, available outside the council chambers, and submit it to the city secretary before the meeting begins.
Resolution
The council will consider a resolution recognizing Economic Development Week, May 4–8, 2026.
Agenda Items
The board will receive a year-to-date financial report ending Feb. 28, 2026, and a quarterly investment report ending March 31, 2026.
Additional items include possible action on minutes from the EEDC Special Board Meeting held April 13, 2026; possible action on participation in the Teacher Preparation Residency Program through Region One; and possible action on an amended interlocal agreement between the City of Edinburg and the EEDC for the development and construction of a new Workforce Resource Center and Golf Course Club House at Ebony Hills Golf Course.
Executive Session
The council will convene in closed executive session to address the following:
Under consultation with attorney, the council will review and discuss potential governmental relations advocacy services and receive pending or potential litigation updates.
Under deliberation regarding economic development negotiations, the council will discuss the following projects:

The council will also address personnel matters in closed session.
Following the executive session, the council will reconvene in open session to take any necessary action, followed by announcements.
