Edinburg, TX – The Edinburg Police Department will offer a Spanish-language Citizens Police Academy course beginning April 6, 2026. The program will be held Mondays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. through May 18 at the LCPD Derek Hernandez Police Training Facility, 1309 N. Doolittle Road. The course is designed to provide residents with an overview of law enforcement operations and responsibilities.
Program details
According to the department, participants will learn about patrol procedures, criminal investigations and police driving techniques. The curriculum will also include information on firearms training and the police K-9 unit. The program is intended to provide insight into the work performed by officers serving the community.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and must live or work in Edinburg. Participants are required to attend all scheduled sessions. Registration has been extended through March 31, 2026, according to the announcement.
