Edinburg EDC opens third round of business improvement grant program

Edinburg, TX – The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation announced the launch of the third round of its Façade and Lot Improvement Program, with applications opening March 23, 2026.
The program provides financial assistance to small businesses for exterior property improvements aimed at enhancing commercial corridors across the city.
Program details
The corporation has allocated $400,000 for fiscal year 2025–2026 to support at least 40 qualifying businesses. Grants of up to $10,000 per business will be available for eligible projects.
Funding for the program was approved by the EEDC Board of Directors on March 2, 2026.
According to the announcement, the program operates on a reimbursement basis. Funds are distributed after approved improvements are completed and verified. Expenses incurred before approval or prior to obtaining required building permits are not eligible.
Businesses that received funding in the first or second rounds are not eligible for the current round.
Eligible improvements include parking lot repairs, signage updates and building façade work, as well as other exterior upgrades such as painting, landscaping, new doors or windows, awnings and roof repairs tied to existing structures.
Eligibility requirements
To qualify, applicants must be located within Edinburg city limits and operate as a commercial property owner or for-profit tenant with fewer than 20 employees.
Applicants must be locally owned, currently operating and current on property tax payments. Businesses must not have outstanding code enforcement violations or liens.
Applications must include two quotes for the proposed work, including at least one from an Edinburg-based business, vendor or contractor. Tenants must also provide authorization from the property owner.
Approval process
All proposed projects must receive approval from both the EEDC Board of Directors and the Edinburg City Council before work begins.
The program is intended to support property improvements that enhance the appearance and function of commercial properties, according to the announcement.
