Jyssania González-Zamora, a teacher with the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District, was nominated for National Life Group’s 2025–26 LifeChanger of the Year award. The nomination was submitted anonymously.

Recognizing classroom impact

The LifeChanger of the Year program honors K-12 educators and school district employees across the country who demonstrate excellence, leadership and a positive influence on students and school communities.

According to information provided with the nomination, González-Zamora is known for her dedication and commitment to student success. She regularly spends additional time outside the school day — including evenings and weekends — planning lessons designed to engage students and make learning meaningful.

Supporters said her creativity and high expectations have helped create a classroom environment where students feel motivated and valued, contributing to strong connections between learning and student well-being.

National recognition program

The LifeChanger of the Year award is sponsored by National Life Group and has recognized more than 8,600 educators and school employees in over 2,300 school districts since its launch in 2011.

Winners are selected by a committee of former award recipients and education professionals and are expected to be announced in early 2026.
