Edinburg TX – Edinburg CISD’s new Career and Technical Education center is taking shape on the city’s east side, with construction about 40 percent complete and substantial completion targeted for July 2026. The update on the project was presented during the ECISD Board of Trustees Dec. 9th regular meeting.
The $8.56 million project, designed by PDK Architects and built by NM Contracting, will convert an existing district building into a modern CTE hub. Plans call for new culinary kitchens, instructional classrooms, computer labs, barbering space, staff offices and restrooms.
On the exterior, contractors are working on site grading, fire lines and domestic water lines. Inside, crews are installing air-conditioning ducts and rooftop units, running electrical rough-ins, framing metal studs, hanging drywall and roughing in plumbing for the new labs and classrooms.
The center is intended to expand access to high-demand programs across the district and provide more flexible scheduling for students from multiple high schools. Trustees said they want to showcase the facility’s progress to parents and community members as it moves closer to opening.
Administrators expect the building to be ready for equipment installation and program set-up ahead of the 2026–27 school year.
