Edinburg PD, faith leaders launch ‘Faith & Blue’ blanket drive ahead of winter

Edinburg, TX – The Edinburg Police Department, in partnership with local clergy, is collecting new blankets for Rio Grande Valley residents in need through Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, as part of a Faith & Blue blanket drive.

Donations of new or newly handmade blankets may be dropped off at four locations: Edinburg Police Department, 1702 S. Closner Blvd.; First Lutheran Church, 302 S. Sugar Rd.; First Baptist Church, 201 E. Samano Rd.; and Plenitud Center, 701 W. Eldora Rd. in San Juan.

A final collection “tailgate” is set for Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, where officers and clergy will gather last-minute donations and organize items for distribution. Faith & Blue is a national effort that brings law enforcement and faith communities together each October for service projects and neighborhood events aimed at building trust and meeting local needs.
