13-Year Old Struck by SUV on Way to School; Edinburg Police Make Arrest, Find Weapon

EDINBURG TX – A 13-year-old girl on her way to school was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning, prompting a swift investigation that led to the arrest of a 69-year-old Edinburg man, according to Edinburg police.

The incident occurred around 10:01 a.m. at the intersection of North McColl Road and West Schunior Road, where police say the teen was crossing the street en route to B.L. Garza Middle School when she was hit by a gray SUV traveling southbound.

A bystander at the scene assisted the student and drove her to the school, where staff called emergency responders. She was later transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Thanks to information from another witness who reported the SUV’s license plate number, Edinburg officers located and arrested Dennis Bullard, 69, of Edinburg. He is facing charges of collision involving serious bodily injury and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
