Edinburg Police to Honor Officers at Annual Awards Ceremony; First Female Lieutenant to Be RecognizedStaff Report

EDINBURG TX — The Edinburg Police Department will celebrate the achievements of its officers and staff during its Third Annual Police Department Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Edinburg Arts, Culture, and Events (ACE) Center, 315 W. McIntyre.
The event will highlight acts of heroism, dedication, and exceptional service to the community. Among the evening’s milestones, Sgt. Sandra E. Tapia will be promoted to lieutenant, becoming the first woman in department history to attain the rank.
Additional honors will include lifesaving awards, support staff of the year, and the distinguished Chief’s Coin, which recognizes individuals for outstanding commitment to the community.
The ceremony is open to the media, offering an opportunity to spotlight the department’s efforts to protect and serve Edinburg residents.
