City of Edinburg Gears Up for ‘Hometown of Heroes’ Half-Marathon with Call for Nominations
From Staff Reports
Edinburg, TX, January 3, 2024 — As the City of Edinburg prepares for the upcoming ‘Hometown of Heroes’ Half-Marathon scheduled for March 3, 2024, residents are encouraged to participate in the spirit of community recognition by nominating individuals who have left a lasting impact on the city.
The city is calling on its residents to nominate someone who embodies “extraordinary public service or exemplary contribution” to Edinburg. Whether it’s a teacher, first responder, military hero, athlete, or former city leader, the criteria focus on individuals who have gone above and beyond for the community. The emphasis is on those who, with a servant’s heart, consistently serve and exhibit kindness, even when no one is watching.
Thirteen community members will be selected to represent one mile each of the half marathon at their respective mile markers. This unique initiative aims to honor individuals who have consistently put their neighbors before themselves.
Nomination forms are available for download on the City of Edinburg website. The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2024. Nominations can be submitted via email to [email protected].
