Village in the Valley (ViVa) is proud to announce that a live auction art piece by the talented artist Uriel Landeros, known as Conquista, will be featured at the upcoming Juneteenth Perfecting Unity Celebration. The event will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 6pm to 11:30 pm at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance.
Conquista is known for his unique style and use of vibrant colors in his artwork, which has been exhibited in galleries across the United States and Mexico. His pieces often feature social and political themes, and this live auction art piece will be no different.
ViVa’s Juneteenth Perfecting Unity Celebration aims to bring the community together to celebrate the emancipation of enslaved Blacks and promote unity, diversity, and equality. The event will include music, food, dancing, and other special surprises.
The live auction art piece by Conquista is sure to be a highlight of the event, and attendees will have the opportunity to bid on this one-of-a-kind piece. All proceeds from the auction will go towards ViVa’s efforts in providing scholarships and vital support to the community through such programs as the community closet which distributes clothing to those most in need and Thanksgiving meals for senior citizens. Annually, these donations will be applied to the areas of greatest need.
“We are thrilled to have Conquista’s artwork as a centerpiece for our Juneteenth Perfecting Unity Celebration,” said Sabrina Walker Hernandez, the event chair. “We believe that art has the power to inspire and bring people together, and we hope that this piece will help us promote unity and culture in our community.”
If you would like to join in the celebration, tickets are $50 for ViVa members and $100 for nonmembers. A limited number of tables are available for $1250 (seats 8). Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased by visiting www.villageinthevalley.org.
The Mission of ViVa is elevating and uniting the Black community while connecting to other cultures in the Rio Grande Valley.
