Edinburg Teen Charged With Animal Cruelty

Edinburg Police Department officers responded to the 500 block of Quail Ave. after receiving calls for service in reference to an animal complaint.

The incident involved a juvenile male injuring an animal. Responding officers checked on the welfare of the pet and an initial report was taken while the juvenile male was properly identified.

Edinburg PD criminal investigators took over the case and investigated it in its entirety. It was determined that the juvenile’s actions warranted enough to detain him, on Friday, March 10, along with removing the animal from the residence.

The juvenile was processed at the Edinburg Police Department and charged with Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals (Class A Misdemeanor). The case will be referred to the Hidalgo County Juvenile Probation Center for disposition.
