Edinburg TX – The Edinburg CISD Board of Trustees will hold its regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be the first public board meeting where newly hired Superintendent Dr. Angela Dominguez will work publicly with the Board of Trustees.
Superintendent’s Report
Tuesday’s meeting marks the first regular board meeting since the board approved a contract for its newly hired superintendent, Dr. Dominguez, at its Aug. 25 meeting. The meeting will be the first at which Dominguez will appear on the dais alongside the Board of Trustees in her new role.
The board will receive an overview of 2025-2026 STAAR results.
Consent Agenda
The board will consider approving several memorandums of understanding, including agreements with Rio Grande Valley institutions of higher education and Region One Education Service Center for college prep math and English language arts courses, and agreements with Admore Behavioral Therapy, LLC, Mesquite Treatment Center, LLC, Child Fund International, Tropical Texas Behavioral Health, and Advancing Together Case Management.
The board will also consider approval of secondary textbooks and instructional materials for new Career and Technical Education courses at a cost of $5,307.14; renewal of the Amplify Intervention Component for grades K-2 at $35,200; a letter of proposal with Elite Medical Training Solutions at $50,150; and contract renewals for building materials ($50,000), art supplies ($41,000), and employee uniforms ($40,000).
Action Agenda
The board will consider the potential solicitation of a request for qualifications for independent forensic audit services.
The board will consider a resolution authorizing the sale of approximately 113.35 acres out of a 133.35-acre tract at Santa Cruz Ranch in Hidalgo County to Rhodes Development, Inc., for the development of low-income or moderate-income housing, along with a related real estate contract for the sale.
The board will also consider a letter of proposal with RGV Vocational Staffing, LLC at $97,500; the purchase of classroom and office furniture for the Career and Technical Education Career Center at Barrientes Middle School at $160,000; and contract renewals for instructional materials, software and equipment ($700,000), air conditioning and refrigeration supplies ($189,000), safety supplies and equipment ($100,000), retail and grocery store purchases ($135,000), and fence supplies ($150,000).
Closed Session
The board will meet in closed session to consult with the district’s attorney regarding pending litigation, deliberate on real property matters, and discuss personnel matters, including the proposed termination of at-will employees Joaquin E. Alba, David Rodriguez Lopez, and Yadira Garza Galvan, updates on pending personnel investigations, and a superintendent’s personnel update. The board will also discuss findings from a Texas Education Agency three-year safety audit.
Open Session
Following closed session, the board will consider action on items discussed, including the superintendent’s recommendations concerning employment, resignations, retirements, non-renewals and terminations, and the proposed terminations of Alba, Rodriguez Lopez, and Garza Galvan.
