Edinburg Library’s Children’s Summer Reading Program Kicks Off June 8 with Six Weeks of Dinosaur-Themed Activities

EDINBURG TX – The Edinburg Public Library’s Children’s Summer Reading Program launches Sunday, June 8, 2026, featuring six weeks of dinosaur-themed culinary classes, toddler activities, STEM sessions, art projects, and weekly special guest appearances running through July 17.
Most daily activities are offered at two times, 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., with Friday special guest sessions held at 10 a.m. only. The program is sponsored by H-E-B and the Friends of the Edinburg Public Library.
Families may register at the kickoff party on Wednesday, June 3, at 6 p.m. at the Edinburg Activity Center, or at the library during program sessions.
The full six-week schedule is as follows:
Week 1 — June 8-12 June 8: Culinary Class — Dino Meals June 9: Toddler Time — Dino Painting June 10: STEM — Paleontology! Fossil Digging June 11: Art — Dino Skeletons June 12: Special Guest (10 a.m. only)
Week 2 — June 15-19 June 15: Culinary Class — Dirt Cups June 16: Toddler Time — Sleeping Dinosaur Chalk June 17: STEM — Build Your Own Dinosaur June 18: Art — DIY Dino Puzzle June 19: Special Guest (10 a.m. only)
Week 3 — June 22-26 June 22: Culinary Class — Dino Nests, Chocolate Eggs June 23: Toddler Time — Growing Watercolor Dino June 24: STEM — Dino Salt Dough Fossils June 25: Through the Storm with Sunny Summer Puppet Show, presented by the Hidalgo County Parks department June 26: Special Guest (10 a.m. only)
Week 4 — June 29 through July 2 June 29: Culinary Class — DIY Dino Scenery June 30: Toddler Time — DIY Dino Face & Arms, presented in partnership with Easter Seals Rio Grande Valley July 1: STEM — Frozen Dinosaur Eggs July 2: Art — Dino Paper Plate Art
Week 5 — July 6-10 July 6: Culinary Class — Dino Cookie Decorating July 7: Toddler Time — Muddy Dinosaurs July 8: STEM — Chocolate Chips Paleontology July 9: Art — Dino Silhouette Art July 10: Special Guest (10 a.m. only)
Week 6 — July 13-17 July 13: Culinary Class — Dino Foot Stamp Bites July 14: Toddler Time — Cup Viewing Dinosaurs July 15: STEM — DIY Volcano July 16: Art — DIY Dino Feet July 17: Special Guest (10 a.m. only)
