Driver Killed in Early Morning Vehicle Fire Crash in Edinburg

EDINBURG, Texas – A male driver died early Saturday morning following a single-vehicle crash that resulted in a vehicle fire in the 2700 block of East Mile 17 1/2, according to the Edinburg Police Department.

Police responded at approximately 4:30 a.m. on April 18, 2026, to a report of a vehicle crash in which the vehicle caught fire.

Investigators reported that a blue Chevrolet Camaro was traveling west on East Mile 17 1/2 from Doolittle Road when the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and struck a concrete irrigation pipe.

Officers confirmed the driver was deceased at the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
