Edinburg CISD trustees to review school intruder detection audit at March 10 meeting

Edinburg, TX – The Edinburg CISD Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday, March 10, at 6 p.m. for a regular board meeting that will include discussion of school security findings from an intruder detection audit.

School safety discussion

During closed session, trustees are scheduled to review intruder detection audit findings for South Middle School, Truman Elementary and Flores-Zapata Elementary. The discussion will take place under deliberations related to security devices or security audits.

The audit findings are expected to address campus security measures and detection systems at the three schools. Trustees may discuss the results and potential security considerations during the closed session portion of the meeting.

Meeting agenda

The meeting will begin with the call to order, roll call and certification of public notice. The board will also recognize achievements in technology and library services, including student progress in keyboarding accuracy and typing speed.

Superintendent’s report

Trustees will receive several presentations during the superintendent’s report, including refunding results from Estrada Hinojosa, personnel policy and hiring procedures and purchasing guidelines. The report will also include updates on reporting requirements for Dr. Thomas Esparza Elementary as a Comprehensive Support and Improvement school and an enrollment report as of March 6.

Action items

Board members are scheduled to consider multiple agenda items, including an interlocal cooperation agreement with the City of Edinburg for Fountain Park and approval of the 2026-27 school calendar. Trustees will also review proposals related to district technology systems, telecommunications services and infrastructure contracts.

Among the larger items listed is the proposed purchase of Singlewire Informacast software and Cisco IP phones at a cost of $737,443.22 funded through safety funds.

Following closed session discussions, trustees may take action on items before the meeting adjourns.
