November Burglary report leads to child sex assault, online solicitation charges for Edinburg man

Edinburg, TX – An Edinburg man was arrested earlier this month following an investigation that began with a reported burglary and led to allegations involving a juvenile, according to police.
Burglary call leads to investigation
This case originated on Nov. 22, 2025, at about 12:30 p.m., an investigator with the Edinburg Police Department responded to the 100 block of Gastel Circle in reference to a reported burglary of a habitation. The investigator made contact with the victim, identified by police as Carlos Daniel Garcia, 27.
During the course of the investigation, officers identified a juvenile suspect and determined that Garcia was acquainted with the juvenile.
Allegations involve online contact
Police said further investigation revealed that Garcia and the juvenile initially met through a dating application and later communicated via text messages. Investigators reported that Garcia allegedly sent explicit photographs of himself and solicited sexual activity.
According to police, Garcia also admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the juvenile on one occasion at his apartment.
Arrest and charges
As a result of the investigation, Garcia was arrested without incident on Jan. 6, 2026. He was charged with Sexual Assault of a Child and Online Solicitation of a Minor.
Bond was set at $25,000 for the sexual assault charge and $20,000 for the online solicitation charge.
