Edinburg CISD announces delayed start Monday due to cold weather

Edinburg, TX – Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District announced Sunday evening that all campuses will operate on a delayed start Monday, Jan. 26, due to cold weather conditions.

District officials said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of students and staff during the early morning hours. Schools will open later than usual, with adjusted class and bus schedules across all grade levels.

Delayed start schedule

Elementary school classes will begin at 10 a.m., middle school classes at 10:30 a.m. and high school classes at 11 a.m. Bus routes will also operate on a delayed schedule, with elementary routes beginning at 9 a.m., middle school routes at 9:30 a.m. and high school routes at 10 a.m.

District staff will be available on campuses beginning at 7:30 a.m. to receive students who need to be dropped off earlier. All staff are scheduled to report to work at 9 a.m.

Safety reminder

District officials encouraged families to stay informed through official Edinburg CISD communication channels and to take precautions when traveling in cold weather. While no ice is expected locally, residents are advised to dress warmly and remain alert to changing conditions.
