Thursday – Library plans Holly Jolly Winter Celebration with crafts, games and free books

Staff Report
Edinburg, TX – The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library, in partnership with the Friends of the Edinburg Public Library, will host its 2025 Holly Jolly Winter Celebration on Thursday, Dec. 18, offering an evening of free holiday activities for families, teens and adults.
The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library, 1906 S. Closner Blvd., and is open to the public at no cost. Library officials said the celebration has become a seasonal tradition aimed at bringing the community together while promoting reading and creativity.
Guests will check in at a Welcome Station and receive a ticket to use throughout the event. As visitors move through the library, they can stop at themed activity stations to take part in holiday crafts, games and photo opportunities. Each station will offer a stamp, and once a participant collects 10 stamps, they may redeem the ticket for a free book to take home.
The books are being provided through a donation from the South Texas Literacy Coalition, continuing the library’s efforts to support literacy and lifelong learning.
“Winter Fest continues to be one of our most joyful traditions,” Library and Cultural Arts Director Letty Leija said in a statement. “It brings families together, sparks creativity, and celebrates the magic of reading all season long.”
The library expects a mix of families with young children, teens and adult patrons to attend, and staff said the come-and-go format is designed so residents can take part at their own pace during the two-hour event.
