Library plans full slate of December holiday programs for all ages

Edinburg, TX – The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library is rolling out a full calendar of holiday events this December, offering activities for children, teens and adults, capped by a Holly Jolly Winter Celebration on Dec. 18.
All programs will be held at the library, 1906 S. Closner Blvd., and are free to attend while supplies last.
Holly Jolly Winter Celebration
The library’s signature family event, the Holly Jolly Winter Celebration, is set for Thursday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. Families can take part in a holiday puppet show, games and crafts, and children will receive free books while supplies last. The evening will also feature pictures with Santa, additional photo opportunities and a gingerbread village contest.

Children’s programs
The December children’s schedule includes weekly story times and special events designed for young readers and their families:
• “Raising Kids in a Digital World with Sesame Street” on Monday, Dec. 1, with an English session at 10 a.m. and a Spanish session at 2 p.m.
• Toddler Time on Tuesdays, Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, at 10 a.m.
• Family Storytime with RedRover Readers RGV on Saturdays, Dec. 6 and 13, at 1 p.m.
• Preschool Story Time on Fridays, Dec. 5, 12, 19 and 26, at 10 a.m.
• Homeschool Hour for children ages 6–11 on Wednesdays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17, at 11 a.m.
• Family Programming on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 22–23, at 2 p.m.

Teen and tween activities
The library will host a separate lineup for teens and tweens ages 11–18 throughout the month:
• DIY Gingerbread House Workshop on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m.
• Library Scavenger Hunt on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m.
• DIY Solstice Lantern craft on Saturday, Dec. 20, at noon.
• Winter Wonderland Painting session on Monday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m.
• DIY Embroidery Class on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 6 p.m.

Adult workshops and events
Adult patrons will have several opportunities to take part in creative and social programs in December:
• Dusty’s Crafters: Christmas Centerpiece on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m.
• Winter Painting workshop on Friday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m.
• DIY Embroidery session on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 6 p.m.
• Disney Trivia & Karaoke on Sunday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m., where participants can compete in Disney villain trivia and sing Disney songs.
