Edinburg Fire Department Earns Statewide Honors for Fire Prevention Excellence

Edinburg, TX – The Edinburg Fire Department has received statewide recognition for its outstanding work in fire prevention, earning multiple awards during the Texas Fire Marshal Association meeting.

Several department members were honored for their professionalism and leadership. Lt. Frankie Joe Salinas received the Jack Sneed Award for outstanding professionalism, Lt. Homero Garza earned the Roscoe Gibson Award for upholding the highest standards in fire prevention, and Chief Omar Garza was presented with the Dan Mayes Life Membership Award—one of only 32 given since 1977—recognizing extraordinary service within the Texas Fire Marshal community.

“These awards reflect the dedication of our team and our commitment to protecting lives and property in Edinburg,” said Chief Omar Garza. “I am proud of every member of our department for their leadership and professionalism in fire prevention.”

The honors highlight the department’s continued focus on safety, prevention, and public service, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in fire protection across the state.
