Oct. 20 deadline set for Edinburg police exam; test slated Nov. 4

Edinburg, TX – The Edinburg Police Department is accepting applications for its entry-level police officer exam through Sunday, Oct. 20, 2025. The written test is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 8:30 a.m. at the Edinburg Activity Center, 123 E. Palm Drive. Doors open at 8 a.m.
Minimum requirements, according to the department’s notice:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be at least 21 years old by May 4, 2026 (expiration date of the eligibility list).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record (a valid Texas driver license and satisfactory record are required before employment).
- Submit all required documentation to City of Edinburg Human Resources/Civil Service by the deadline; late applications are not accepted.
- Ability to read and write the English language.
- Meet all minimum standards in the published notice and the position classification plan adopted by the Civil Service Commission.
- Physical agility standards apply; candidates should review the department’s posted requirements before testing.
