STISD Preparatory Academy In Edinburg Earns Apple Distinguished School Honor for 2025–28

Staff Report
EDINBURG, TX – South Texas ISD Preparatory Academy has been named an Apple Distinguished School for the 2025–2028 program term, recognizing the campus for innovation, leadership and educational excellence through the use of Apple technology.
Principal Marco Zamora said the distinction places the Mercedes-based middle school among a global group of campuses focused on technology-rich learning. “It is an honor to be recognized alongside other innovative educational institutions from around the world,” Zamora said, adding that the recognition supports continued networking and the sharing of best practices.
Apple Distinguished Schools are identified for clear visions on how iPad and Mac support learning goals and for documenting academic results linked to that work. The designation highlights schools where technology is integrated to empower students to “lead, learn and thrive,” according to the announcement.
STISD Preparatory Academy is one of two middle schools in the district and serves sixth- through eighth-grade students from Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy counties through a rigorous curriculum aimed at above-grade-level coursework. Families can learn more at the campus website or by calling the district’s information line. The campus is located in Edinburg on S. Sugar Rd.
