Staff Report

EDINBURG, TX – A 46-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after a road rage confrontation ended in a stabbing, according to the Edinburg Police Department.

The incident began shortly before 6 p.m. near the intersection of 12th Avenue and Samano Street, where police say two vehicles — a white Ford F-150 and a white Ford Taurus — stopped after following each other. Both drivers exited and exchanged words before one allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the other once in the stomach.

The victim drove to the Edinburg Police Department to report the assault. Emergency medical services transported him to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers conducted a search and later arrested Leobardo Alexis Garcia, 46, around 10:20 p.m. at his home in the 900 block of South 20th Avenue. Police said Garcia was taken into custody without incident as he exited his residence before a search warrant was executed.

Garcia is charged with aggravated assault.
