Edinburg CISD Approves Pay Raises, $57K Starting Salary for Teachers

Staff Report
EDINBURG, TX – The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved its 2025–2026 compensation plan, boosting salaries across the district and raising the starting teacher pay to $57,300, making Edinburg CISD one of the best paying districts in South Texas.
The plan, adopted at the Aug. 26 board meeting, includes pay increases for teachers, nurses and librarians based on years of experience. Increases range from $1,200 for employees with one to two years of service to $7,000 for those with 21 to 35 years of service.
Hourly staff will see a 6 percent raise, while non-teaching professionals will receive a 2.25 percent increase from the midpoint of their pay grade. Principals, assistant principals, deans and curriculum assistants will see raises between 2.5 and 4 percent, depending on years of service.
In addition, all full-time employees will receive a $500 mid-year stipend. The district also reaffirmed its minimum starting wage of $15 per hour for full-time staff, first established in 2022.
District leaders said the plan reflects a commitment to supporting employees while remaining competitive in teacher recruitment and retention.
