Saturday: Diabetes and Dialysis Event Scheduled in Edinburg

EDINBURG, TX – A free community event aimed at helping patients and caregivers better understand diabetes and dialysis will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library in Edinburg.
The program, titled Taking Charge: Diabetes & Dialysis in the Rio Grande Valley, runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will feature presentations from health experts, patient stories, and resources for support.
Scheduled speakers include Dr. Ali Abdul Kareem, a podiatrist; Dr. Liliana E. Rios Rojas, a nephrologist; and Lorena Y. Medina, a physician assistant. Topics will focus on diabetes management, kidney health, and strategies for living well while undergoing dialysis.
Organizers said the event is open to patients, caregivers and community members interested in learning more about managing chronic conditions.
The program is presented by George A. Garcia of DialyzeThis and is supported by sponsors including South Texas Foot & Ankle Doctors, Best Western Plus, and IPH Home Health Care.
