Library to Host Free Career Workshops for Women in September

EDINBURG, TX – The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library will host a free workshop series in September designed to help women strengthen their career readiness skills and prepare for the workforce.

The program, titled She Succeeds: Workshops for Women in the Workforce, will run every Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the library’s meeting room. Participants who complete the series will receive a complimentary interview outfit and a certificate of completion.

The lineup begins Sept. 2 with “Career Exploration & Smart Goals,” focusing on career paths and goal setting. On Sept. 9, “Online Job Platforms & Networking” will highlight strategies for using digital tools to pursue employment opportunities.

A session on Sept. 16, “The Essential Guide to Resumes and Interviews,” will cover resume writing and interview preparation. On Sept. 23, “Polish Your Professional Look” will provide guidance on professional appearance and workplace presentation. The program concludes with a career fair on Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The workshop series is hosted in partnership with SIS, Inc., Workforce Solutions and Prairie View A&M University Extension. SIS, Inc. provides career development resources aimed at helping unemployed and underemployed women achieve long-term career success.
