Brewster School Honor Band Earns Top State Recognition, Named 2026 TMEA 1C Honor Band

EDINBURG TX – Brewster School’s Honor Band has been named the 2026 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 1C Honor Band, earning the top ranking among schools in their division statewide.
The prestigious honor places Brewster School, part of Edinburg CISD, at the top of the 2026 1C Honor Band list. Under the direction of Gerardo Reyes, the ensemble outperformed 11 other schools across Texas during the rigorous competition process. As the first-place winner, the Brewster Honor Band will perform at the TMEA Convention in February 2026 in San Antonio.
The annual TMEA Honor Band competition recognizes outstanding concert band programs across the state. Bands are judged based on musicality, technique, and overall performance quality.
Other schools ranked in the top five include William B. Travis (Dallas ISD), Mineola MS (Mineola ISD), Union Grove JH (Union Grove ISD), and Mauriceville MS (Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD).
The Brewster Honor Band’s recognition highlights the continued strength of ECISD’s fine arts programs and reflects the dedication of its student musicians and directors.
