ECISD Approves New Coaching, Administrative Hires; Other Positions Pending

EDINBURG TX — The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees approved two key personnel appointments during its meeting last night, while several other positions were discussed without recommendations at this time.

Following a closed executive session, the board approved the hiring of Rafael Benavides as new head cross country coach for Edinburg North High School. The administration recommended the appointment, and the motion was passed unanimously.

Trustees also approved the appointment of Andres Garcia as assistant principal at Edinburg North High School, again following a unanimous vote.

No action was taken on several other staffing considerations, including the positions of head volleyball coach for Robert Vela High School, a migrant coordinator for federal programs, an academic counselor for the Collegiate High School, and a coordinator for personnel and legal issues at the central office.

Additionally, the board approved a set of professional hires, reassignments, resignations, and retirements as discussed in closed session. Specific names and roles were not publicly detailed.

The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn, which passed unanimously.
