Workshop to Help RGV Musicians Turn Ideas into Community Projects, Deadline Extended To Friday
Staff Report
Edinburg TX – Musicians in the Rio Grande Valley looking to make a difference in their communities will have an opportunity to develop their skills and projects at the upcoming RGV Musician Changemaker Accelerator (MCA) Workshop. The hands-on training session is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Interested artists are encouraged to apply by the extended deadline of January 31 at 11:59 p.m. Applications can be submitted online. Here is the link to apply: https://forms.gle/arr1ML7sPayJwDH46
The workshop, hosted by the City of Edinburg Cultural Arts Office, is designed to help local artists create fundable, music-driven projects aimed at fostering community change. Participants will work with national instructors to outline project ideas, identify potential partners and funding sources, and develop a personalized “musician changemaker” statement.
At the end of the session, musicians will be paired with local business mentors for ongoing technical support and program troubleshooting. Additionally, attendees will receive a $50 stipend, complimentary breakfast and lunch, and all necessary workshop materials.
The event is open to musicians at any stage of their journey, and no fully developed project is required to participate—just a passion for using music to drive change.
“This workshop is a great opportunity for musicians in the RGV to connect with like-minded artists, receive mentorship, and turn their ideas into actionable projects,” said Magdiel Castle of the City of Edinburg Cultural Arts Office.
