EDINBURG—Two Edinburg residents have been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries at local businesses, according to the Edinburg Police Department.

The arrests follow an investigation into burglaries reported on September 28, 2024, when officers responded to three businesses: Johnny’s True Value, Boost Mobile, and Fernandez Grocery Store. Cash and store items were stolen from the businesses, which are located in close proximity to each other. Investigators collected video evidence and launched an inquiry into the incidents.

On October 2, officers were alerted to another burglary in progress at La Cabana Restaurant on North Closner Boulevard, along with two attempted burglaries at nearby businesses. Detectives continued to gather evidence as the investigation expanded.

A breakthrough came on October 3, when officers received a tip from a community source regarding the whereabouts of two suspects. Detectives acted on the information, arresting both suspects initially on unrelated charges. The suspects were later connected to the burglaries.

Julio Miguel Fuentes, 44, faces three counts of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary. Johnny Lee Moralez, 35, has been charged with one count of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary.

The Edinburg Police Department thanked the public for its assistance in solving the case.
