Josh Abbott Band to Headline Texas Cook’Em High Steaks Event in Edinburg
Staff Report
EDINBURG, Texas — The Texas Cook’Em High Steaks event is set to return on October 12, 2024, at Ebony Hills Golf Course, offering a full day of food, music, and entertainment. The Josh Abbott Band will headline the evening concert, bringing their signature Texas country sound to the stage. Tejano groups Intenso and Mesteno will also perform.
The event, organized by the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce, will feature a variety of attractions, including a kids’ fun zone, local food and craft vendors, and a fireworks display. The Freedom SkyDive Jump, showcasing expert skydivers, will add to the day’s excitement.
A major highlight of Texas Cook’Em High Steaks is the BBQ cook-off, where participants from across Texas will compete in categories such as chicken, ribs, brisket, and rib eye steak. The grand champion will earn a spot at the 2025 American Royal BBQ competition in Kansas City and take home a $20,000 prize. The H-E-B Steak Challenge Champion will secure a place in the 2025 Steak Cook-Off Association World Championship.
“We’re thrilled to be back for another year of amazing music, delicious food, and exciting attractions,” said Executive Director Ronnie Larralde. “Although we had to postpone due to Hurricane Beryl, we’re excited to welcome everyone to Edinburg for this one-of-a-kind event.”
Registration for the cook-off is now open on the event’s website.
