Edinburg Fire Department Donates Safety Equipment to Mexican Cities
Edinburg, TX — In a gesture of international cooperation and support, the Edinburg Fire Department is set to donate essential firefighting equipment to two Mexican cities, Valle Hermoso in Tamaulipas and Abasolo in Nuevo León. The presentation ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
This donation aims to provide vital life-saving resources to first responders in these neighboring communities, who often face perilous conditions while assisting citizens but lack the necessary equipment to perform their duties safely.
Firefighters in Valle Hermoso will receive a 2003 Pierce Engine, Scott face masks and air packs, bunker coats and pants, gloves, helmets, boots, and Nomex hoods. Their counterparts in Abasolo will be equipped with similar personal protective equipment, a 1989 GMC Rescue Truck, and Scott 4500 PSI Cylinders.
The donation ceremony will be held at the Central Fire Station, located at 212 W. McIntyre Street, at 10 a.m. on May 15, 2024.
