City of Edinburg issues boil water notice for West University area
Edinburg, Texas, Nov. 8, 2023 — The City of Edinburg Utilities Department has issued a boil water notice for the residents and businesses located within West University Dr. (SH 107), specifically the north side between Jackson Road and Mon Mack Road. This notice is in response to a recent water leak incident that occurred around 10 p.m. last night. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen complications encountered during the repair process, the restoration of regular water services is expected to take longer than initially anticipated.
Residents and business owners within the affected area, totaling approximately 45 households and 35 businesses, are advised to adhere to the boil water notice. Furthermore, homes and businesses in the same vicinity may experience a water service disruption lasting approximately 24 hours during the repair period. Once water service is restored, adherence to the boil water notice is strongly recommended.
The City of Edinburg, in an abundance of caution, urges residents and businesses within the designated zone to follow these important guidelines during the period of the Boil Water Notice:
- Boil Water: Do not consume tap water without boiling it first. Bring the water to a rolling boil and maintain it for at least two minutes to ensure that all potential contaminants are effectively eliminated.
- Cool Before Use: After boiling, allow the water to cool down before using it for drinking, cooking, or any other domestic purposes.
- Use Bottled Water: For individuals who are unable to boil water, it is strongly recommended to utilize bottled water for all consumption needs.
The City of Edinburg is actively working to address the water issue and expedite the repair process to minimize any inconvenience caused by this situation. We apologize for any disruption this may cause and appreciate residents’ understanding and cooperation in ensuring the safety of our community.
The City of Edinburg will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Residents and businesses are encouraged to stay informed through official channels and social media.
