Highway Construction Worker Killed In Vehicle Accident On I-69
Edinburg TX, June 12, 2023 — A Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) subcontractor was killed last night while working on construction on I-69. The victim was not identified as of this morning.

On Sunday, June 11, 2023 at about 6:40 p.m., Edinburg PD officers responded to an auto pedestrian fatality accident in the area of FM 490 and N. IH 69-C (southbound lanes).
A subcontractor working with TxDOT was setting up road work construction signs on the I-69C southbound lane just south of FM 490, escorted by a convoy. A driver who was towing a “just in tow” vehicle heading south veered onto the grassy median and struck the worker.

The adult male was later pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. The victim was not identified at this time.
