EDINBURG,TX, June 15, 2023 – Hidalgo County Precinct 4, Commissioner Ellie Torres hosted the successful ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly constructed Eastside Soccer Park, held Wednesday, June 14, 2023. The event marked an exciting milestone in Com. Torres’ commitment to promote active lifestyle and community engagement in the area.

Through the generosity of Mr. Gary J. Frisby of PDP Mile 4, LTP, a total of 11.697 acres of park land was dedicated to Hidalgo County in 2019. “As a county leader, my vision for Precinct 4 is to have a park in each quadrant of the precinct for families to enjoy outdoor activities and improve the quality of life,” said Commissioner Ellie Torres.
Ribbon Cutting Includes Community Fair
The ribbon cutting ceremony took place at 10a.m. at the Eastside Soccer Park, located at the intersection of N. Cesar Chavez and East Mile 19 North Rd. Highlights of the event included a small community fair, which showcased local businesses and organizations, creating a platform for them to connect with the attendees and strengthen community bonds.

RGV FC Toros soccer player Duilio “Zorro” Hernandez, an eastside Edinburg resident, also took part in the ceremony. He graciously signed soccer balls, adding an extra layer of excitement and leaving a lasting impression on the young soccer enthusiasts present.
East Side Soccer Park includes soccer fields, restrooms, single and inclusive playground systems, half court concrete basketball slabs, picnic facilities, grilling stations, parking and a walking trail.
