DA To Hold 8th Annual Young Hearts Matter Teen Dating Violence Prevention Event February 9

EDINBURG TX, January 25, 2023  – Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney Toribio “Terry” Palacios, in collaboration with the Texas Council on Family Violence and the City of Edinburg, will host the 8th Annual Young Hearts Matter Teen Dating Violence Prevention event on Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bert Ogden Arena located at 4900 S I-69 C in Edinburg, Texas.

The prevention event will include a youth rally, a self-defense class for teens, prevention education information, a community fair, and guest speakers from local and county stakeholders.

In addition to the DA, speakers include Texas Council of Family Violence Prevention Director Roy Rios; City of Edinburg Mayor Ramiro Garza, Jr.; Alton Police Department Chief Dr. Jonathan Flores; Dr. Santos Palomo of the Academies of Juarez Lincoln High School; and DA Victims Unit Director Rosie Martinez will be the Master of Ceremonies.

Various agencies, non-profit organizations, and law enforcement representatives will participate in the informational fair. There will be snacks and drinks for the public. The event is free and open to the public. We encourage everyone who attends to bring their teen dating violence prevention posters and wear orange.
