Elections Administrator Yvonne Ramón retires after 14 years
Edinburg, Texas – After 14 years as the Elections Administrator for the Hidalgo County Elections Department, Yvonne Ramón announced her retirement.
“It is time,” said Ramón. “I have known that God led me to this challenging task of conducting elections for Hidalgo County. I have also known that He would let me know when it was time to retire, and He has. It is now time for me to enjoy life as a retiree.”
Ramón was appointed as Elections Administrator of Hidalgo County in 2008 and has since administered countless federal, state, county and local elections. Ramón has been a member of the Texas Association of Elections Administrators (TAEA) for the past 13 years and served as President of the association in 2019. Previously she also served as Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-President. As President, she oversaw the TAEA membership which consists of over 350 elections officials and their staff who represent each of the 254 counties in the state of Texas. She is also a national Certified Elections Registration Administrator (CERA) and state Registered Election Official (REO) and has served as a member of the Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee. Throughout her tenure as the Elections Administrator, she participated in various security boards, task forces, training committees and was an active member of the Legislative Committee.
“I look back and reflect on all my experiences as the Elections Administrator, and I know that I persevered because of the support I received from my incredibly knowledgeable, hardworking and dedicated elections staff,” said Ramón. “We have administered fair and unbiased elections with the highest level of integrity. I also want to thank our Commissioner’s Court and all of the Hidalgo County departments that support Elections and support this great County of Hidalgo.”
Ramón is set to retire on September 9, 2022 and plans to enjoy time with her family, especially her five grandchildren.
