In the most recent 2022–23 summary, Edinburg CISD received an overall scaled score of 82, earning a “B” grade. The district saw a drop in several key areas, including Student Achievement, which fell to a “C” with a score of 77, and Academic Growth, which also received a “C” with a score of 71. The “Closing the Gaps” domain dropped to 78, also yielding a “C” rating. The only area to maintain a “B” was School Progress, which posted a scaled score of 84 and accounted for 70% of the overall rating.
This contrasts sharply with the 2021–22 academic year, when Edinburg CISD earned an “A” in both School Progress and Academic Growth, and a “B” in Student Achievement and Closing the Gaps. That year, the district posted a College, Career, and Military Readiness score of 95 and a graduation rate of 94.3%, contributing to its high performance.
The district also previously earned a “B” in the 2018–19 school year, with an overall score of 89, but one campus performed below the threshold of 70, which prevented the district from qualifying for an “A” rating overall. The 2019 report also highlighted strong performance in School Progress, with a score of 93 and an “A” rating in that domain and the College, Career and Military Readiness score was a strong 96,
No accountability ratings were issued for the 2019–20 and 2020–21 school years due to disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which interrupted statewide testing and other educational benchmarks.
Despite the decline in 2022–23, Edinburg CISD earned the Postsecondary Readiness Distinction in 2022–23 and in 2018-19 and 2021–22 school years, a recognition for exceptional preparation of students for life after high school, including college enrollment, workforce training and military readiness.
