Youth Rodeo Series Set for May 10 in Edinburg

EDINBURG TX — The DRH Cattle Company will host its Youth Rodeo Saddle Series on May 10 at the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Posse Arena in Edinburg. The event will feature speed, roping, and bull riding competitions for young contestants across various age divisions.

Books will open at 1 p.m., and events will begin at 4 p.m. A $100 series fee per contestant and a $10 jackpot fee per event are required.

Events include goat touch, goat tying, chute roping, breakaway roping, ribbon roping, tie down, chute dogging, team roping, and leadline, with age groups ranging from 0 to 18. Rough stock events will feature junior bulls for ages 15-18, mini bulls for ages 10-14, and steer riding for contestants 9 and under. Each rough stock event requires an additional $15 office fee per contestant.

Barrel racing and pole bending will also be part of the series, with prizes awarded to high-point riders. An 18 and under 4D jackpot barrel race and pole bending event will offer a jackpot prize of $25 per run. Exhibitions will begin at 1:30 p.m., with a $5 per run fee.

Spectator parking is $10, and vendors are welcome. Negative Coggins are required for all horses brought onto the premises.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Posse Arena, located at 603 W. Wisconsin Rd. in Edinburg, hosts a variety of youth and community events throughout the year.
