Edinburg to Host Juneteenth Festival Honoring Freedom and Community

EDINBURG TX – The City of Edinburg will commemorate Juneteenth with a community celebration on Saturday, June 21, featuring a ceremony, live music, food and family-friendly activities.
The event begins with a commemorative ceremony from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Edinburg Municipal Auditorium, located at 200 N. 7th Avenue. The celebration continues from 7:30 to 10 p.m. with the Juneteenth Festival at the Edinburg Arts, Culture & Events Center, 315 W. McIntyre Street.
Juneteenth, observed on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The Edinburg event aims to celebrate freedom and honor African American history and culture.
Attendees can enjoy food vendors, live entertainment, and a family-friendly atmosphere. The City of Edinburg encourages community members of all ages to participate.
