Edinburg CISD to Host 36th Annual Parent/Youth Mental Health and Wellness Fair

Staff Report
EDINBURG, TX — The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District will host its 36th Annual Parent/Youth Mental Health and Wellness Fair on Thursday, May 8, continuing its efforts to support student well-being and raise awareness about the importance of mental health.
The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Robert Vela High School, located at 801 E. Canton Rd., and is free to all ECISD students and their families. Attendees can expect educational activities, interactive exhibits, food, entertainment, and access to mental health resources and service providers.
With rates of anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders rising among youth nationwide, the event seeks to equip families with tools to identify mental health challenges early and connect with support services. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than one in five children in the U.S. has experienced a mental health disorder, and suicide remains the second leading cause of death among individuals aged 10–14.
“Providing our families with accessible mental health education and support is critical to our mission,” district officials said in a statement. “Events like this help reduce stigma and foster a culture where students feel safe seeking help.”
The fair is part of ECISD’s broader commitment to student health, which includes on-campus counseling services, partnerships with local health providers, and educational programs for students, staff, and parents.
