City of Edinburg, ECISD Partner to Support Canterbury Elementary Students During Campus Transition

Staff Report
EDINBURG, TX — The City of Edinburg and the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District (ECISD) are joining forces to ensure the continued education and well-being of Canterbury Elementary students through the end of the school year.
Beginning Monday, May 5, 2025, approximately 400 Canterbury students who had not previously been relocated will transition to the City’s Parks and Recreation Health and Wellness Center, located at 315 Mark S. Peña Drive. The temporary relocation site will serve as an instructional hub for the remainder of the academic year.
ECISD will oversee all aspects of curriculum delivery and meal service at the new location. The district will also provide transportation for students to facilitate a smooth and secure transition.
“This partnership shows how much we value our children, their education, and their future,” said Edinburg Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. “The City is doing everything we can to support the district’s efforts to keep students safe and learning.”
The effort underscores a shared commitment between the city and school district to prioritize student safety and educational continuity during a time of transition.
