EDINBURG, Texas — The Museum of South Texas History (MOSTHistory) invites families across the Rio Grande Valley to join in the springtime fun at ¡Cascarón 2025!, the museum’s annual Easter egg hunt and family celebration, happening Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
This beloved community event brings together children and families for a festive morning filled with colorful cascarones (confetti eggs), interactive activities, and an exciting Easter egg hunt across the museum’s historic grounds. This year’s celebration goes beyond fun—MOSTHistory is partnering with the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank to promote healthy living and lifelong learning.
Throughout the event, RGV Food Bank and MOSTHistory staff will lead fun and engaging nutritional instruction sessions for both parents and children, empowering families with tools for healthy eating and wellness. To support cultural literacy and a love for reading, children will receive free bilingual picture books, including:
- Adelita y las primas verduritas / Adelita and the Veggie Cousins
Written by Diane Gonzales Bertrand, Illustrated by Christina Rodriguez - Pedacitos de huerto / The Patchwork Garden
Written by Diane de Anda, Illustrated by Oksana Kemarskaya
“These beautifully illustrated stories support the themes of nutrition, community, and cultural identity—perfect complements to the day’s activities,” said Lolly Peña, event organizer and museum educator.
MOSTHistory thanks the RGV Food Bank and its community partners for their continued dedication to the well-being and enrichment of families throughout South Texas.
Admission to ¡Cascarón 2025! is free with general museum admission. Families are encouraged to arrive early and bring baskets for the egg hunt.
