Driver Arrested for DWI After Rollover Crash, Female Ejected in Edinburg

EDINBURG, Texas – A driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated following a major rollover crash early Sunday, according to the Edinburg Police Department.
Officers responded to the crash at approximately 3:12 a.m. in the 1800 block of North Sugar Road, where they found that a passenger, 22-year-old Faith Gonzalez, had been ejected from a 1992 Ford Mustang. Her injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
The driver, 21-year-old Juan Carlos Contreras, was taken into custody on charges of DWI and intoxication assault. Authorities are also investigating whether street racing played a role in the crash. Contreras is expected to face formal charges upon his release from the hospital.
Investigators are looking into the possible involvement of a second vehicle. Police urge anyone with information to contact the Edinburg Police Department at 956-289-7700.
