Hidalgo County Justices of the Peace Offering Free Valentine’s Day Weddings

EDINBURG, Texas – Love is in the air as Hidalgo County Justices of the Peace prepare to offer free wedding ceremonies this Valentine’s Day. Among those participating are Judge Charlie Espinoza and Judge Andre Maldonado of Precinct 4, who will be officiating ceremonies at their Edinburg offices on Friday, Feb. 14.

Judge Espinoza, who serves Precinct 4-Place 1, will conduct weddings at 1212 S. 25th Avenue, Suite A, while Judge Maldonado, of Precinct 4-Place 2, will be at Suite C of the same location. Couples interested in booking a ceremony with Espinoza can call 956-380-4473, while those wishing to schedule with Maldonado can call 956-383-0921.

All weddings are by appointment only, and witnesses are not required.

In addition to Espinoza and Maldonado, several other Hidalgo County Justices of the Peace will be officiating free weddings at locations across the county:

  • Jason Peña, JP Precinct 5-Place 1 – 708 E. Edinburg Avenue, Suite B, Elsa, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 956-292-7015 for an appointment.

Couples must obtain a valid marriage license at least 72 hours before the ceremony unless granted a waiver from the County Clerk’s Office. To obtain a license, both applicants must be present, provide valid identification, and present their Social Security card.

Marriage licenses can be purchased in person at the Hidalgo County Clerk’s Office at the Vitals & Official Records Department, 317 N. Closner Blvd. in Edinburg. The office is located one block north of the courthouse at the corner of Closner Blvd. and Kuhn Street.
