EDINBURG TX– The Edinburg Police Department recovered stolen items and made two arrests in connection with an ongoing auto theft investigation linked to multiple vehicle burglaries and thefts across the city.

The investigation began when a vehicle, stolen after its key was left inside, was tracked to a residence on the 7500 block of Flamingo Street on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024. Investigators used a pair of AirPods left in the stolen car to trace its location.

At the scene, police arrested two suspects, 21-year-old Edgar Olguin and 19-year-old Jonathan Moreno, for possession of marijuana. The homeowner granted consent for a search of the residence, leading to the recovery of several stolen items, including a firearm.

The investigation has revealed connections to more than a dozen vehicle burglaries and multiple stolen vehicles. Both suspects face numerous charges, including 15 counts of burglary of a vehicle, seven counts of auto theft, one count of theft of a firearm, and possession of marijuana.

The Edinburg Police Department advises residents to take preventive measures, such as removing keys and valuables from vehicles, to reduce the risk of theft.
