Edinburg to Celebrate Veterans with Parade, Concert

Staff Report

EDINBURG — The City of Edinburg will honor U.S. military veterans with a Veterans Day Parade and concert on Saturday, Nov. 2. The parade, set to begin at 10 a.m., will travel along Closner Boulevard, also known as the Boulevard of Heroes.

Starting at Richard R. Flores Stadium, the parade will proceed north toward Kuhn Street. The event is open to the public, with no cost for community members who wish to enter a float or decorate their businesses along the route. Political entries are permitted for a $250 fee and will be placed at the end of the procession to preserve the event’s focus. Participants must submit entry forms by Oct. 21, available at edinburgarts.com/veteransparade.

The parade will also include a Most Patriotic Float Competition, with judging to take place at 9:30 a.m. before the parade kicks off. Awards will be given for the top three floats based on their appearance. However, vehicles smaller than a pickup truck are not eligible to compete.

Following the parade, a Veterans Day concert will take place at the Promenade Park Amphitheater, starting at 5 p.m. The concert lineup includes performances by Las Cuerdas, Sammy Arriaga, the Tejano Legends Pioneers Tribute Band, and Los Palominos. Tickets are $20 for those 15 and older, but veterans with military ID and individuals donating a new toy for the Edinburg Blue Santa Toy Drive will receive free admission.
