Edinburg Police Rescue Two from Canal After Early Morning Crash

EDINBURG — Two people were pulled from a vehicle after it overturned in a canal early Saturday morning, leaving one in critical condition.

Shortly before 2 a.m., Edinburg police responded to the 2300 block of W. Sprague Street following reports of a major accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle submerged in the canal. They rescued a female from the vehicle before noticing a male passenger still inside.

Officers quickly retrieved the unresponsive male and administered CPR at the scene. He was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. The female suffered minor injuries and is expected to recover.

The Edinburg Police Department’s Traffic Investigators are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
