Edinburg Police Introduce First Therapy Dog to Assist Officers, Community

Staff Report

The Edinburg Police Department has introduced its first therapy dog, Domino, a 4-year-old male Poodle provided through the K9s For Warriors program. The organization partners with law enforcement and first responders to supply therapy dogs that assist with emotional support in the aftermath of traumatic events.

Domino will help officers cope with stress and offer comfort to victims of violence during difficult situations. In addition to working within the department, Domino will attend city functions and visit local schools, fostering community engagement and promoting a sense of calm.

“K9s For Warriors is known for providing therapy dogs to first responders, and Domino will be an invaluable asset in offering emotional support to our officers and the public,” said Edinburg Police Chief Jaime Ayala.
